This was a great assignment! Morris is based off of the Chinese creature of chaos "Hun Dun". This design is pretty faithful to the source material if you take the time to look it up. The biggest challenge was trying to figure out the wings. I actually took the time to create each individual feather and UV them. I don't usually take things that far for a concept art piece, but I really wanted to get the wings right and I didn't want to deal with the hassle of a paint over, especially after taking the body so far. I made him very wrinkly, like a Sharpay. At this stage I wasn't really sure about the tone of the character, but I knew he was going to be funny and maybe a little disturbing.
