Predator Badlands was an amazing project to be a part of. Thank you to Nicole Letaw and the WETA team for bringing me on board. I've always had so much fun working with these guys. They are the best in the business! I really enjoyed meeting Dan Trachtenberg. Phenomenal Director and I love every movie this guys made.
The Kalisk design started with looking at the Bud designs that came from Studio Gilis. I decided to take the design somewhere between a lion and a gorilla. I did a lot of sketches before landing on the final body type for the Kalisk and older Bud. There was an early idea for body armor that grew from under his skin. That was the initial direction for the unkillable creature. I was able to get the design approved, but later after my time on the show, they decided to rethink the body armor idea. The torch was then passed to the insanely talented artist Andrew Baker, who added the tendrils to the final design of the creature. It is an honor to share this design with Adrew. I've admired his work for a long time and he is a good friend.
